Yamba

The locals drift by in friendly camaraderie, the ocean calls to keen surfers, pelicans preen on top of jettys and life takes on an easy vibe. Yamba, on the northern New South Wales coast of Australia, is yet to lose its 'beach village' charm, but has enough going on to capture the senses of all who visit.
With the wind in your hair and salt air in your lungs, boating in and around the small, privately owned islands will jump start your day. Stop at sandy beaches, take a dip in the calm waters or drop a line in (permits required) and see what's biting, Yamba style.
International restaurants sit in among bakerys, gift stores and fishing apparel. Lunch could be a BBQ in the park, picnic on the beach or a cold beer at the Pacific Hotel, overlooking the surf.
Ideal for an afternoon bike ride or stroll, wide footpaths meander past the boat harbour, camping grounds and parks, leading out to the rock wall so you can watch the waves break dramatically over the jagged edges.
Reigning supreme as dusk falls, the afternoon BBQ's fire up on verandahs across town as groups gather for dinner and drinks, kicking back to swap fishing stories and Yamba memories. This is a place you return to, time and again.
