Gold Coast Beaches

From the dizzying heights of a highrise balcony, sweeping views south of Main Beach deliver an ocean lovers paradise.
But which beach to choose for a weekend getaway? From The Spit to the Main Beach surf club, it's possible to find deserted stretches of sand and basking atop a sand dune is an accessible option.
Narrowneck joins the strip from Main Beach to Surfers Paradise. This is a mecca for surfers and bus tours stopping to watch the pink tones streaking the sky at sunset.
With night markets watching over it, Surfers Paradise beach is always alive with volleyball games, impromptu soccer matches and party goers nursing hangovers from the night before. The most populated area by far, this is where you come to see; and be seen.
From Broadbeach to Mermaid beach, families abound, barbequing in the parks lining the beach, making sandcastles and setting up camp for the day, complete with mini tents and umbrellas. Joggers are plentiful, overtaking morning walkers and afternoon strollers.
Burleigh Heads has a village feel, with it's brightly lit trees and regualr family activities. Mermaids Restaurant & Bar is located on the sand, making it possible to sip wine, watch the rolling waves just metres from your chair and stare in awe at the Broadbeach/Surfers skyline.
Just around the corner, Tallebudgera Estuary flows out into the ocean in a deligthful swimming hole of clear, calm water. Here you can swim while gazing up at the lush forest, as if you were miles away from the 'golden strip'.
Currumbin beach is home to Elephant Rock and a surf club directly beside it on the sand. Laze in the shallows before crossing the road to lunch at an enticing array of beach side restaurants.
The straight stretch of white sand continues from Tugan to Coolangatta where the Quicksliver pro and Iron man events are held throughout the year.
Whichever area you choose, they all have one thing in common; the pristine, clear water of the Pacific Ocean lapping against powder soft, clean sand. You can't go wrong.
