What are the best and worst flights you've ever been on?

The interior of the plane was mainly yellow, giving everyone a sickly pallor before we even departed. The cabin crew looked like they were spending the day in a dentist's chair and the mushroom omelette served for breakfast resulted in many rushed trips to the child-sized bathrooms.
"Could I have a glass of water please?" I asked in the middle of the night, having pressed the button ten times.
"Mmm." Was the response with a sharply raised eyebrow.
I went back to sleep before it arrived, parched like the Simpson Desert.
Small things, yes, but on a flight from Europe to Australia in economy, small things tend to take on huge significance.
Upon arriving in Singapore for a two day stop-over, jet-lagged, hungry, grumpy and disgusted with the service for the last fourteen hours, we were informed our luggage had been 'misplaced' and we would not be getting it for two days.
This was on a Lufthansa flight and I have never flown with them again, despite knowing others who've had perfectly good experiences with the airline. In the end, mistakes can happen but it really is all about good service, and we received none of that.
At the other end of the spectrum, flying Singapore Airlines has always been remarkably smooth and pleasant for me. The cool, soothing tones of purple and blue interiors, softly spoken, helpful cabin crew who are constantly smiling and efficient service in all areas makes for a wonderful experience, despite the horrors of long-haul flights.
Boarding a plane in search of adventure is always a thrill, but the flight itself can have a big impact on your travels.

I agree with you that Singapore Airlines have wonderful service. Thai Airways is also terrific. I enjoyed flying with the various American airlines, and Qantas are also quite good.
I have flown with Lufthansa before and I thought the flight staff looked sour, but the flights were always on time and they have a reputation for safety and reliability, so I would fly with them again.
It was only while flying with Swiss Air from Barcelona to Rome that our luggage got left behind in Zurich, and we had to wait a day and a half for it to be brought to us. That's really the most negative experience I've had, luckily!
